Hello there! I'm Yvette, a mama who is passionate about teaching kids to be creative, and the owner of Wonderfully Made Sewing School. I started this little sewing school in 2018. At the time, I was looking for a class for my 6-year-old daughter. I couldn't find anything that I really loved, so I decided to create a class that I would've loved as a little girl, and Wonderfully Made Sewing School was born.
Since then, I have taught hundreds of children how to sew. One of my biggest joys is seeing the pride on a child's face when they complete a project that they never imagined they could do. I hope this little school has inspired many girls with the confidence that they can try new things.
My first sewing lesson took place on my grandmother's lap. I made a pillowcase. I can't remember if it was good or not, but I can remember being very proud.
I recognize the same pride in my students when they complete a project for the first time. I believe completely that we were created to create. In a culture that celebrates consumerism and quick entertainment, developing hobbies and interests that require creativity, patience, and problem solving are so valuable, especially in children.
At Wonderfully Made Sewing School, we strive to foster a love of learning in every student. We are ok with mistakes and imperfections and accept that mistakes are part of the learning process. We encourage problem solving, knowing that problem solving builds independence which leads to confidence.
My hope ultimately is that my students will not only develop a life-long love of sewing, but a love of creating and the confidence to find joy pursuing their creative interests.
